BALI: Rising from the rich volcanic soil in Kintamani, Bali comes our Darker Roast. It is an organic Arabica varietal, hand picked by smallholder farmers. A relatively uncommon process of "wet hulling" the coffee cherries results in a robust, deep coffee.
ARTIST: A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael Aaron Williams first began painting with coffee after discovering stacks of old ledger papers in his great-great grandparents’ old general store. For Williams, painting on these ledgers was like the continuation of a story begun by his ancestors. After experimenting with a number of different mediums, Williams found that painting with coffee invoked a sense of richness within the portraits and lent an air of timelessness to the work.
In addition to his coffee paintings on century old paper, Williams is known for the street art he has installed on the streets of over 15 different countries. Through television features and magazine publications, he has received international recognition in Brazil, Australia, China, India, Germany and the United Kingdom, amongst others. His work has been exhibited extensively, most notably in Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and London.
